FAQ about Our Silver Jewelry
What is 925 sterling silver?
925 sterling silver is an alloy made of 92.5% pure silver, mixed with 7.5% other metals (most often copper). Pure silver on its own is too soft to be worn as jewelry, so the small addition of copper makes it stronger and more durable, while still keeping its beautiful shine.
Is all Sayamise jewelry made of 925 sterling silver?
Yes. Every Sayamise piece is crafted from genuine 925 sterling silver. We never use lower-grade silver or base metals.
Do all items have a 925 stamp?
Almost all of our jewelry is stamped with the “925” hallmark. In rare cases, very delicate pieces cannot be stamped without risk of damage but rest assured, even those are still solid 925 sterling silver.
What’s the difference between gold jewelry and gold-plated jewelry?
Solid gold jewelry is made entirely of gold, while gold-plated jewelry has only a thin layer of gold on the surface of another metal. Our gold-plated pieces use 925 sterling silver as the base, which means you still get the quality and value of silver underneath the gold finish.
Is the gold or rose gold plating real?
Yes. All of our gold and rose gold plated jewelry is finished with genuine 14k gold plating, never just a “color coating.”
What is e-coating?
E-coating is a protective process where a thin, invisible layer of organic lacquer is bonded to the jewelry using an electrical current. This coating helps protect the silver, keeping it shiny for longer and reducing tarnish, while remaining completely safe to wear.
Is Sayamise jewelry nickel- and lead-free? Is it safe for children?
Yes. All of our jewelry is 100% nickel-free and lead-free, making it safe for sensitive skin and children. Each piece is tested to ensure compliance with international, EU, and US standards.
Is your jewelry ethically made?
Yes, our jewelry is crafted in Bangkok, Thailand, by one of the most respected factories in the industry. They uphold strict international standards for fair labor, corporate responsibility, and safe working conditions.
Are your raw materials ethically sourced?
Absolutely. All silver used in our jewelry comes from conflict-free sources, primarily in Australia and South America. We are committed to responsible sourcing at every stage.
What’s the difference between cubic zirconia and crystals?
-
Cubic zirconia (CZ): A high-quality, synthetic gemstone designed to resemble diamonds. CZs are optically flawless, very durable, and come in many colors such as clear (crystal), pink, or amethyst. They are usually hand-set into jewelry, most often with a prong setting.
-
Crystals: Man-made glass gems created from quartz, minerals, and sand. We only use crystals from two world-renowned brands: Preciosa and Swarovski. They are available in a wide range of colors, shapes, and sizes, adding brilliance and variety to our designs.
